COVID Restrictions Update

Covid Restriction Update: Victoria Cross and Eldene Surgeries

Throughout the pandemic we have strived to make the surgery as safe as possible for all our patients and staff.  We will continue to do so going forward.

From the 19th of July nothing will change at the surgery – patients will still be asked to wear a mask, to socially distance and use hand sanitiser in the surgery and staff will continue to wear PPE.  When booking a face-to-face appointment, all patients will be asked to confirm that they will attend with, and be willing to wear, a face mask whilst in the surgery.  This is because we have staff members who are themselves extremely clinically vulnerable, who cannot safely see any patient who is not wearing a mask.

Anyone who has visited the practice will be aware that our waiting room will not allow us to accommodate large numbers of patients safely.   We will therefore continue to restrict the number of people visiting the surgery for face-to-face appointments and will only offer them when clinically necessary.

We do understand that it can be frustrating to follow these restrictions, but we also know that when people come to us, they are often very sick and vulnerable.  Some patients cannot receive the Covid vaccination for medical reasons, and we have a responsibility to continue to take these precautions to protect people.

In terms of opening, as many of you know, we have never been shut.  In fact, we have consulted with much higher numbers of patients than we did pre-Covid (face-to-face, by phone and by video).  We have also played a major part in vaccinating more than 80% of the adult population, often twice, in the last 8 months.

Covid has not gone away.

We are sure you will understand that we need to keep the surgery as safe as we can for all our patients.
